View Article  October 10th. D-Day in Ontario. DOG DAY.

Today is Election Day in Ontario.

All responsible, informed and caring dog owners must vote today to reject the McGuinty Liberals.

The McGuinty Liberals made responsible dog owners of all breeds into second-class citizens and discriminated against dogs solely because of their shape.  The McGuinty Liberals promulgated unfounded, unjust, vague, shoddy and ineffective legislation that kills dogs - just for the sound bites and photo ops.

Vote for the candidate in your riding likeliest to beat the Liberal candidate.

Let the Liberals know you won't take this lying down.

Bite the McGuinty Liberals where it hurts - in their Legislature seats.

View Article  AN "A TO Z" ELECTION TALE
Once upon a time, in a province called Ontario, a man named Dalton McGuinty wanted to become premier so badly that he made many promises. He said he would not raise taxes. He promised to close the dirty coal-burning plants. He would help autistic children, relieve gridlock problems and help immigrants have their qualifications recognized in Canada.

Here is the A to Z story of what happened when this man gained power.   more »
View Article  NOT ON THE VOTER'S LIST? NOT A PROBLEM

I was not on the Voter's List this time when I went to the Advance Poll last week, probably because our riding has been redrawn to match the Federal riding.  This is true of many ridings in Ontario for this election.

I was surprised, since I've voted in every election at all levels of government since reaching the age of majority, but despite not being on the list, it was really easy to vote.

I had to show ID with my name and address on it.  I used my Driver's Licence but you can also use a Health Card.  Passports are no good.  I think you can use another form of ID with a copy of a bill such as a power bill or telephone bill if you don't have a Driver's Licence or current Health Card.

The Returning Officer (RO) filled in a form which I signed.  Took about two minutes total.

Then, I presented the form to the RO who gives out the ballots and got my two ballots.

Then, I voted.

So please, get out and vote tomorrow, even if you're not on the list, even if you've never voted before.

Let's prove the media wrong.  They've been creating the impression that the election is a done deal and has been for weeks.

Get out and show Dalton and his gang that discriminating against innocent citizens doesn't cut the mustard in Ontario.

Polls are open tomorrow from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.  You are allowed time off from work to vote.

Fingers crossed for a good outcome in favour of democracy and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

View Article  CALGARY: DOG OWNERS ARE THE CITY'S CUSTOMERS!

Brent at KC Dog Blog has nicely summarized Bill Bruce's presentation to their Canine Legislation Conference.

Bill is the manager of Animal Control for Calgary and, based on the comments here, that city is incredibly far ahead in their animal control philosophy.

Note that when the Ontario Liberal government was asked to allow Bill to make a verbal presentation to their Dog Owners' Liability Act committee hearings, they refused.

Yet they met personally with Tim Dack from Winnipeg, a city that has had a breed ban in place since 1991, yet was only able to reduce their dog bites 10 years later when they copied Calgary's policies.

Talk about ignoring the experts and only listening to people who parrot exactly what you're trying to ram through!

Click here to read Brent's summary of Bill's presentation

Note that the "KC" mentioned throughout his article refers to Kansas City, where Brent is based.

View Article  WHAT'S YOUR SIGN?

If you live in Ontario and haven't yet ordered an election sign, do it now!

Election signs are very important as they show where support lies and get candidates names out there so voters know who they are on Election Day.

It's easy, you can order through a website or by phone to the campaign office.  They will deliver and instal your sign and remove it as soon as possible after the election.  It's armchair activism at its best!

I am a little disappointed with the response to our survey thus far.  Thanks to those who considered the questions important enough to warrant an answer.

I expect more of these to be coming in so I've set up a category on the left sidebar, 'Candidates', where these will be filed as they are posted.  That way, you will be able to scan the list for your riding once we have more replies.

If we don't get a good response, then you can draw your own conclusions about which parties and candidates consider dog owners worthy of consideration.

View Article  MCGUINTY PURCHASES POSITIVE PRESS

The front pages of two national newspapers and two Toronto newspapers either slammed Dalton McGuinty's performance in Thursday's leaders debate or described him as being under attack for his track record as premier of Ontario.

One additional newspaper's front page was glowing in its praise of McGuinty and the Ontario Liberals, describing them as the "clear choice".

Why such a different attitude from this one publication?

View Article  I guess the Premier doesn't like being asked hard questions??

Last Wednesday, on a campaign stop, developer Mike Quattrociocchi approached the Premier to ask the questions "What are you going to do about the natives occupying my site?". He was referring to his construction site in Brantford, Ontario.  To see the clip from CHCH News, click on the link below.

What I found quite humorous, in addition to the look on the Premier's face, was the bit at the end of the clip about the accusations from the Liberal Campaign Office that CHCH News were told Mike was going to confront the Premier, so they put a wireless microphone on him. CHCH was accused of "staging the event" and were threatened, if the story was not dropped they would complain to upper management, Canadian Broadcast Standard Council and deny any further access to the Premier. Wow, that must hurt!

View Article  Ontario MPP's Voting Record on Bill 132
How did your MPP vote on Bill 132? Did they stand up and be counted against it or did they fall in line with their 'fearless' leader to condemn thousands of dogs to death and violate the constitutional rights of hundreds of thousands of dog owners? Or did they go and hide instead of voting, perhaps because they knew the truth but didn't want to go nose-to-nose with the Premier and his cronies? You may want to drop in and ask them this question BEFORE you vote.   more »
